NetBSD 1.5-current snapshots
i386
This is after most of the NEW_TOOLCHAIN stuff had settled
down (to be as exact as I can remember on the fly, it's from sources
updated midday on November 1, 2001). This snapshot was built using
the new toolchain, and so the tools included with it should be in
line with that. (If you build a more recent world from this, you
should still use build.sh with USETOOLS and OBJMACHINE set to yes,
of course, just to be safe.)

I don't run an anonymous ftp server and I don't intend to, so you'll
have to download the individual files via http. Yes, I'm aware this
sucks, but these snapshots should appear on ftp.netbsd.org not long
after they're up here (and are verified to work).
- The 20010323 (1.5S) snapshot (individual files).
- 20010323.tar.gz (tar'ed, gzip'ed version).
NOTE: The kernel in boot.fs in
this snapshot lacks USB support! I am aware of this! I did it on
purpose so that the kernel would actually fit on the floppy!
netbsd.ram.gz DOES include the USB support, and I don't think there
are any machines that both have a floppy and rely on USB for their
input devices, so you should be okay.
- The 20010404 (1.5U) snapshot (individual files).
- 20010404.tar.gz (tar'ed, gzip'ed version).
NOTE: I'm not even running this snapshot on my development
machine right now. That's not to say it won't work, it built cleanly
enough (and boot.fs fits within a floppy again without removal of
USB!), but this particular snapshot is completely untested. If you
do use this snapshot, please, let
me know so I can update this comment. Thanks.
(Very old) Disk Copy boot floppy images
These are Apple Disk Copy images of the NetBSD/macppc 1.4.1 boot floppy.
141-boot.fs-DC4.img is written in Disk Copy 4.2 format.
141-boot.fs-DC6.img is written in Disk Copy 6.3.3 format.
The files actually here are:
When you try to mount these images, Disk Copy will complain that the
disk 'cannot be read on this Macintosh' - never fear, it will still
happily write the image to disk.
To actually boot this image, you will need to shut down your mac, and
start it up again holding down command-option-O-F to boot into Open
Firmware. At the 0 > prompt, issue the command "boot fd:0" (without
the quotes), and you mac should boot off of the floppy (barring other
hardware issues).
If you have any trouble with these floppy images, please email
gr@eclipsed.net or (only as a last resort!) port-macppc@netbsd.org.
If you're having trouble installing NetBSD/macppc in general, you
should consult the NetBSD/macppc web page or mailing list
archive.
